North DeKalb Greenspace Alliance Inc. (NDGA) was formed from a group of citizens concerned about conserving natural resources in the community. We are committed to saving the natural features of the land in our community. We see the absolute need for protecting or restoring targeted areas in our community as a place to respect, appreciate and learn about the natural beauty of our area. We were incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in 2015.
NDGA seeks to identify and preserve appropriate natural areas, especially in urban areas experiencing rapid infill development and densification. We will, with the help of our neighbors, establish a passive greenspace providing a place of solitude, relaxation, education and community focus. Passive greenspace means the land is largely undisturbed, with no development other than natural unpaved trails.
Our Vision
We see the absolute need for protecting or restoring appropriate land parcels in our community as places to respect, appreciate and learn about the natural beauty of our area. We see intrinsic value in all life and define conservation as a moral or ethical imperative.
Greenspace is not an indulgence or luxury, it is a necessity to people, plants and wildlife. Greenspace provides cleaner air and water, flood management, noise abatement, habitat, and increases the overall quality of life and health of people.
